After 19 years in the marketing business, we like to think we are a pretty progressive marketing firm that has kept up with the industry and trends.  However, we try to be pretty selective about what trend we fall in line with: we aren’t rabid Justin Beiber fans, (sorry!) we have so far avoided being lured into watching Jersey Shore marathons, and have just said ‘no’ to Lady Gaga-inspired footwear.

However, the universal business trend of ‘remote offic-ing’ is one we decided to try out for ourselves. If it’s effective for mega-companies like Microsoft and Apple, we decided it would be good for us as well.

Technology has allowed our creative resources to expand geographic boundaries along with the marketing industry in general, so allowing our team members to work remotely is just the next step in providing more flexibility and more creative freedom. One day that actually might be one of us working from the beach!

Our address is changing, but that’s really about it. Our services are the same, and so is our capacity to provide effective marketing solutions you need to promote and grow your organization. You can still reach us at the same phone, email, website, Face Book … you get the idea. We look forward to working on more great marketing ideas for great companies!

So, be sure to update your contact list with our new mailing address. Of course, if anyone forgets and stops by the old downtown office, make the trip worthwhile. There are a dozen great spots downtown to shop, grab some great food or cup of coffee!

Cookies Lisa Burris The Batch Springfield ILAs a follow-up to our Christmas blog post, kudos to Lisa Burris of The Batch!  Cookies baked and sold in November and December of 2009 through her fundraising ministry raised $11,200 to finance a much needed bathroom renovation project for Contact Ministries, a faith based, not-for-profit organization which has an emergency homeless shelter for women and children and provides food, clothing and other essentials to people in need in Springfield, IL.  Lisa Burris was also personally responsible for recruiting Curt Trampe of Dream Maker Bath & Kitchen to donate $8,400 worth of labor and supplies to Contact Ministries for a second bathroom project.  Lisa Burris had this to say about the success of her endeavors on behalf of this organization:

There are really no words to adequately describe the joy that has been mine while working towards the goals set for the bathroom projects! Thank you for the privilege of serving along side of you as we have witnessed God provide a miracle for the needs of Contact Ministries.  All glory to Him and may many be changed because of all He has allowed to be accomplished.

Lisa Burris will continue baking in support of other faith-based charities and is already working towards goals set for 2010.  You can learn more about her inspirational mission and how to help by ordering cookies from the On the Radar at Omni blog or a recent article in the State Journal Register.

NOAA Science on a Sphere in Springfield, ILI had the extreme pleasure to preview a new technology and visual extravaganza recently at a local museum that is slated for opening later this fall. It was a project called Science on a Sphere, housed at the Land Surveyors Museum in downtown Springfield, Illinois, and developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA). To describe it is, well, impossible. Suffice it to say it changes – literally – your perspective on things like geography, astronomy, meteorology, land changes, migration, on and on. What struck me as I sat, uncharacteristically with a loss for words, while watching this amazing demonstration, was how lucky we are in this town to have the treasures we do. From the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, historic sites, museums, art and gift boutiques, and downright incredible locally owned and operated dining establishments, we are the keepers of great treasures! To dovetail onto the “Buy Local” theme, I would say let’s “Appreciate Local” and visit these treasures, spread the word, and get busy enjoying them!
